Saturday Beachride; Aberlady Bay loop...

Saturday`s weather looked a bit grim leading up to the weekend with forecasts of all day rain.
It put some off coming out to play on the coast despite the Morning forecast which now showed rain going off by 10am.  Friends Craig and Donald turned up in Gullane when i suggested doing a ride through the pine woods at Gullane Bents where hopefully we would not be too exposed to the cold east wind, But surprise surprise!!! the rain was off by the time we got riding around 10.30am  and it was even quite warm as the day went on!...

Any hows after a shorter than planned ride through the pine woods we popped out on top of the crater dune above the beach and after some fun there rode along Gullane Sands an played a bit on the rocks before riding to Gullane Point where we took to the T Trail before riding out to the Sub wrecks...

Here at the subs i suggested we ride right out to the Puffer Estuary then loop round an try ford the Puffer at Kilspindie and follow the salt marsh back to the Bridge and Gullane Hill..

All in agreement off we went the full 2 miles out to the Estuary....

Soft sand on the sand bar firmed up as we followed the Puffer burn until a bit i have previously crossed...

Gullane Point looks a long way away from out here...

Fording the Puffer we followed the coastline past Kilspindie and onto the salt marsh...

Lovely old wall...

By the time we returned to Gullane Point there was a fog bank along the coast...

Leaving the coast and the fog, we climbed up to the Millennium cairn on Gullane Hill, had a breather then descended down to the cars in the village...

And Donald's phone showed we had been riding in the Sea!, but check the average speed lol! must be with he stops to film with the mono pod...

This film worked out good considering the low light and expected horrid weather,  what an ace day cycling with friends,
