Weekend Cycling with friends... Pt 1 of 2...

Ace weekend with friends.
Dave came down from Skye for the weekend and would see two fun days cycling local trails and loads of laughs and banter...
Jeff from Wales was up in East Lothian for a weeks hols with family and had a pass for Saturday so joined up along with Jason and Craig.
Dave and i fitted plus wheels and i checked of the old KramPug to lend to Jeff...

We were all ready but the weather was not!, it poured down until after 11am, so was decided to ride the John Muir Way to Archerfield Walled Garden and get a pint, juice, food, blether...

The odd field ready for cycling!...

I shot loads of film over the weekend with the Go Pro HERO Session 4, edited into short 3 minute films...
Here dropping into North Berwick on the JMW and heading in Yellowcraig...

Some of the trails are just so fun like here on the JMW, be careful in summer when visibility ahead is limited with the trees in leaf,  fun taking different lines winding through the pines...

Riding back to HQ Jeff had to head off mid afternoon so the rest of us came up with the idea of riding to Dunbar, again on the JMW for some chips and set off...

Big views over the Shire...

Here is another film riding the JMW from East Linton to John Muir Park...

We stopped at Bullet Hill, before riding to Winterfield.
Most of the East Lothian Coast was MOD land and off limits to the pub;lic during WW2 for coastal defences built in 1940 then later training.  Here at JMP was one of many live fire ranges, a hill is full of .303 rounds from a firing range, a quick dig in a rabbit hole will find spent rounds, see the start of the film,

Through John Muir Park and onto Dunbar cliff path...

Chips bought we sat looking over the harbour, gulls looked over our food...

Chips Devoured it was back along the JMW and already the tide on the way in...

Hence the name `The Bridge to Nowhere`...

John Muir Park..

Great riding through the Scots Pine woods here...

Good crack with old friends...

Great thing about when Dave visits is his ace cooking skills, a lovely pasta, washed down with some Cider...

Colours are turning...

The harvest is underway across East Lothian...

The combines arrived at Archerfield on Wednesday, Spring Barley and Oilseed Rape has mostly been harvested across the county now.
The Rape fields are too spikey to cycle and the Spring Barley fields too isolated to join up to make a good day of it so i will be waiting for the main Wheat harvest to begin before doing some good rides and filming...

Lovely field Border of Sunflowers on the entrance roadside, the road runs east to west so once they open the sunflowers should turn with the sun throughout the day...

The purple flower is `Phacelia`, or you may know it as Linseed, Bees love it...

Couple of hours and all fields harvested...

I went for a drive around the county after work and up into the Lammermuir Hills...

The county turning gold...

And the heather on the hills Purple...

Midweek catch up...

Been a nice couple of days weather for cycling to work, lovely morning light and little wind...

The fields are golden...  my favourite time of year here in the shire,

Busy at work and grass still growing fast with all the rain showers and warm weather,
Been clearing some of the Ha-ha`s-going to write a blog on these as quite an interesting bank and wall features of old 17th and 18th Century Estates...

Craig was in touch to see if i wanted some company after work and we went an evening cycle to Tyninghame...

Back to HQ via Whitekirk farm tracks for a brew and a blether,
Seems like so long ago i was up on that hill working, yet only a year ago!, so much has happened since...

We got robbed of a sunset as the sky clouded over, so i`m going to cheat and post 2 pics from the previous evening`s stunning sunset i caught when i went for a walk to get some fresh air,
Hope we get more like this once the harvest gets into full swing...
